Your stock OEM sprocket hub is large and heavy... it's a six-armed steel flange of 7 3/16" diameter. The large diameter creates a "flywheel" effect, that is, a certain amount of power is required just to affect the rotation of the flange. In other words, acceleration and deceleration of the axle assembly is slower (less responsive) than it would be without the flange. Plus, the excessive weight creates a negative "fly-wheel effect" the faster you ride.
The design goal of the Durablue flange is to lessen this "flywheel" effect. To do so, high strength aluminum is used for the flange section. You will lessen the total weight and enjoy a more responsive ride (no more flywheel).
